Nokia India launches “WeMeet”; Location Aware, Group Texting Social Service

164 views 1 Comment and 11 Reactions I was mindlessly roaming around a Mall here in Delhi earlier today morning when out of nowhere, a Nokia branded Teenager appeared with a Leaflet. Being the Nokia Enthusiast and all that I am, I was curious as to why there was a Nokia Branded Tshirt wearing Teenager saying random words right in front of me, and confused as to why I had no idea about this service he was talking to me about.

Because usually when this sort of thing happens, I already know everything about the service or device, and just generally mess with these people by asking them complex questions to which they never know the answer, because I’m just a very bored person. Generally.

But not this time.

Apparently Nokia India has gone ahead and launched a new service called “WeMeet” here in India. As you can tell by the images of the leaflet in this post, apart from having a very awesome logo, WeMeet is a new “SMS service that lets you keep in touch with your family, friends and colleagues, all at the touch of a button“.

The concept is quite genius when you think about it. You send one sms to one number, and it gets delivered to all of your contacts assigned to your group. So you actual just send one text message, and hence get billed only for that one text message. Regardless of whether people in your group are in the same state or not.

So yes, the service is live in India, and you can find out more about it at WeMeetNokia.com. Apparently it was developed by Nokia Research India, and hence was launched here first. How’s that for a change eh?

What do you think about Nokia “WeMeet“? Genius service? Or do you think it is a certain degree of useless? Let us know in the comments y’all!

Like I said before, I really think the service is quite genius. The Reason is best said by one reviewer of the service (on the website) who stated, “i can chat with all girls in 1 sms“. Oh yes. You totally can now.
